The Planning and Economic Development office is dedicated to increasing the quality of life for the Passamaquoddy Tribe in Indian Township and surrounding areas. Our department welcomes feasible economic partnerships that encourage a more self-sufficient tribal entity. Currently our department is developing Arc GIS and Arc Pad capabilities and a Long Term Strategic Plan that will aid in a more self-sufficient government structure. We work with various Federal and State government agencies like the USDOI-Bureau of Indian Affairs, DHHS-Indian Health Services, USDA-Rural Development, the Maine DOT and many others.
If you are a member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe in Indian Township you may be eligible for Single Family Housing Loans, the Home Repair Program, or the Multi-Family Housing Loans through Rural Development. Rural Development also offers the Business and Industry Loan Guarantees, Intermediary Relending Program, Rural Business Development Grants, Rural Energy for America Program, Value-Added Producer Grants, and Cooperative Grants. Please look over the Rural Development Brochure or contact Eva Bragg for more information.
*Assistance under RD programs is available to applicants in areas designated as “rural”. Under law, the definition of “rural area” is different for each program.
