Leptanet, or Vice Chief, is the second in command of the executive arm of the tribal government.  In such capacity, the Leptanent balances and augments the authority of the Sakom to institute the policies of the Tribal Council.  When the Tribal Chief is absent, incapacitated, or must recuse themselves due to a conflict of interest, the Vice Chief assumes the powers of the Sakom to care for the interests of the Passamaquoddy people.
